Gogogo Ghost

Today, I'll be reviewing the second card from Cosmo Blazer, Gogogo Ghost.  Gogogo Ghost is a level 4 Dark-Attribute Zombie-Type Monster with 1900 Attack, and 0 Defense.  His effect reads, "If this card is special summoned: You can target 1 "Gogogo Golem" in your graveyard; Special Summon that target in face-up Defense Position, then change this card to Defense Position.  You can only use the effect of "Gogogo Ghost" once per turn."

What I like about this card is that it can hold its own for a turn or two with its 1900 Atk to let you set up plays.  It also allows you to special summon a monster from the graveyard for a really quick XYZ summon.  The thing is, it only really works in a "Gogogo" deck, which is both a positive and a negative.  Even though this card is pretty deck-specific, it works very well in a "Gogogo" deck, given the proper setup.  All you need is to get Ghost and Golem into the graveyard, then Normal Summon Gogogo Giant, targetting Ghost.  Gogogo Giant special summons Ghost, and Ghost special summons Golem.  You now have 3 level 4 monsters on the field allowing you to XYZ summon almost any generic Rank 4 (Shock Master?).  Or you can overlay just Ghost and Giant for a Maestroke (or another rank 4), and keep Golem on the field for extra protection as he cannot be destroyed once per turn via battle.  Another, quicker option is to use Tinplate Goldfish to summon him from your hand and save you from going through the trouble to get Ghost into the Graveyard.

The things I dislike about this card are few, but are quite prominent.  As I said before, this card can only be used in a "Gogogo" deck.  There is a reason no one has seen any "Gogogo" decks at a YCS or Regional: they're very inconsistent and not up to par with many higher tier decks like Mermails or Fire Fists.  While the potential for fast XYZ summons are fairly high, the overall consistency is just not all there.  Also, the ability to  only XYZ summon, and do virtually nothing else, is also a major hinderance to the deck as sometimes an XYZ summon is not the greatest option in a given turn.  This card also needs a great deal of setup to work properly, it needs to be in the graveyard along with Golem, and you need a Giant in your hand.  While this might not seem like a major problem, in a format where almost every deck has their combo pieces in hand and in deck, taking two to three turns for a lone XYZ monster is very underwhelming and can make you go minus while your opponent continues to gain card advantage.  While I have no problems with Gogogo Ghost itself, I do have problems with the surrounding cards and the consistency of getting plays off.

Even though my list of negatives was fairly long, I do still enjoy this card and see the potential in it.  With the proper setup, this card can open up great combos that can potentially win games.  I would rate this card a 5 out of 10.  While this card has potential, it is realistically only that. Potential. Stay tuned for the next card I'll be reviewing: Bacon Saver.

Dododo Bot

Hello! And welcome to my first Yu-Gi-Oh! card review! :) I will start by reviewing the current TCG set "Cosmo Blazer."  And for the first card review, I will be looking at the first card in the set, Dododo Bot.

Dododo Bot is a level 4 Earth-Attribute, Machine-type effect monster with a respectable 1800 Attack and equally respectable 1900 Defense.  His effect reads, "Cannot be Normal Summoned (but can be Normal Set).  If this card attacks, it is unaffected by other card effects until the end of the damage step."

We'll start with the things I like about this card.  It's a Machine, so if you would like to add it into your Gadget or Geargia deck (or any other deck that can spam Gear Gigant X), you can easily search it out with Gigant.  I also like it's stellar defense for a level 4 monster.  Being a Geargia player, I know that 1900 Def is not incredibly easy early in the game, especially with ample backrow or another more severe threat on your side of the field.  I also like that it's unaffected by other card effects, which means the common Mirror Force and Dimensional Prison can't stop it.  If your opponent has no monsters, you can attack directly without fear of it getting destroyed.

Now for the negative aspects of Dododo Bot (of which there are quite a few).  The fact that you cannot Normal Summon it is one of the largest concerns here, and a large reason why it doesn't see any competitive play at all.  While 1900 Def is very good to sit behind, it will certainly not hold you forever.  Also, later in the game, Normal Summoning becomes a lot more important, and you don't want to waste a turn setting a monster, when you could just as easily Normal Summon it (especially since you can't bring it out with Giant Rat).  Personally, I would much rather summon a Machina Gearframe and search a Fortress, or summon another Gadget and search the corresponding Gadget, than waste a turn setting Dododo Bot.  Which brings up another point: Dododo Bot is only even remotely good in Machine-type decks (that can spam Gigant).  I can almost guarantee that not even a novice player would include this in any tournament level deck.  It's also quite simply outclassed.  I would much rather summon a Thunder King Rai-Oh to prevent my opponent from searching, or XYZ/Synchro Summoning.

Time for the personal rating of Dododo Bot!
Taking all of these things into consideration, I would give Dododo Bot a rating of 3 out of 10.  I would never use this in any of my decks, and I would not recommend you do either.  It's horrible summoning condition could give your opponent that chance to destroy you in one turn.  And it's simply outclassed by numerous other cards.

I hope you guys enjoyed my first review, and are as excited as I am for more! Coming up next, I will review Gogogo Ghost, the second card from Cosmo Blazer.

Welcome!

Hello everybody!

My name is Robby, and some of you may know me as pokemastah496 from iTokyoRob's YouTube channel!   As I can't get a hold of a lot of cards because of where I live to actually play, trade, or do deck profiles, I have decided to start my own project of reviewing Yu-Gi-Oh! cards.  I'll review each set of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards updating 1 to 3 times per day (I will only do cards with confirmed effects).  In my reviews, I'll include possible strategies, tips, hints, ideas, and finally a personal rating of the card on a scale of 1 to 10.  I will admit, this idea of a card reviewing blog was not my original idea.  I got the idea from PrimeTime Pokemon, who has a much similar blog reviewing Pokemon cards.  To prevent any confusion, I am not affiliated with PrimeTime Pokemon in any way, shape, or form.  I simply am starting a blog similar to his.  I will try to make it my own to avoid any further confusion.  If I miss anything, or you have any better ideas, or notice anything that I miss, please comment below, as they are much appreciated by both other viewers and myself (but please no negative or rude comments).  :)
